What to do in case there is a war?

What Civilians Should Do During Airstrikes or Missile Attacks

If You Hear Sirens or Explosions

  1. Immediately move to shelter.
  2. Go to a basement or underground area if available.
  3. If no basement exists, go to:
    • A windowless interior room
    • Lower floors
    • Hallways or bathrooms

Stay Away From

  • Windows
  • Glass doors
  • Balconies
  • Exterior walls

Glass is a major cause of injuries during explosions.

Protect Your Body

If caught outside and no shelter is available:

  1. Lie flat on the ground.
  2. Cover your head and neck with your arms.
  3. Open your mouth slightly (helps reduce blast pressure on ears).

Inside Buildings

  • Move away from windows.
  • Sit or lie against a load-bearing wall.
  • Use mattresses, heavy furniture, or tables as protection.

After the Explosion

  1. Stay sheltered for several minutes (secondary strikes sometimes occur).
  2. Watch for:
    • Fires
    • Structural damage
    • Broken gas lines
  3. Help injured people only if it is safe.
